Jinapor Donates Roofing Sheets, Cash to Rainstorm Victims in Jonokponto Community

Damongo MP makes personal intervention as families count losses following destructive storm

The Member of Parliament for the Damongo Constituency, Hon. Lawyer Samuel Abu Jinapor, on Friday 13th March 2026 donated roofing sheets and cash to families whose homes were damaged by a rainstorm that recently struck the community of Jonopkonto.

The MP, who said he felt personally compelled to act the moment he learned of the disaster, dispatched a delegation to first assess the scale of the damage before organising the relief package all drawn from his personal funds.

Leading the delegation into the community was the Assembly Member for the Achubunyo Electoral Area, Hon. Kipo, widely known as “Teacher.” He addressed residents, explaining the purpose of the visit and expressing gratitude to the MP for his swift response. He also asked the people to remember the MP in their prayers.

The items were formally presented on behalf of the MP by the NPP Constituency Secretary, Abdul Rahman Kadiri. He described how news of the storm had deeply troubled Hon. Abu Jinapor, who immediately deployed a team to quantify the destruction so that a targeted and meaningful response could be organised.

Rahman also used the occasion to voice the concerns of farmers in the constituency, lamenting what he described as a deteriorating agricultural situation under the current national administration. He said farmers growing maize, groundnuts, dry cassava (konkonte), and other crops were struggling to find buyers and fair prices for their produce.

He called on residents to support the NPP in the 2028 elections in the hope of reversing the situation, stressing that the relief items being distributed that day came entirely from the MP’s personal resources.

Speaking on behalf of the affected victims, Alhaji Masawudu Sulemana expressed heartfelt appreciation to Hon. Abu Jinapor, describing him as a brother and son of the community.

“Lawyer Abu Jinapor is our brother and son. We will make sure we pray for him, and we are always ready to give him our utmost support at any given time,” Alhaji Masawudu said.
