NRFA Charges Damongo Based Mole Nationals FC and Buipe Based Boresa FC Over Supporter’s Violence

The Northern Regional Football Association (NRFA) has formally charged Mole Nationals FC and Boresa FC also known as Buipe All Stars for breaches of disciplinary regulations following incidents of supporter violence during separate Regional Division Two Middle League matches. In charge sheets dated April 27, 2026, the Association cited both clubs for violating Article 16(2)(a)(b)(f)(h) of the GFA Disciplinary Code, 2019, as well as Articles 34(3)(b)(c), 34(4), 37(1)(a)(b), and 37(7) of the GFA Regional Football Associations Leagues Regulations (2021), primarily for failing to control their players, officials, and supporters.

Boresa FC’s case relates to their fixture against Northern Zaytuna FC at the Busunu Astro Turf on April 18, 2026, where supporters allegedly threw stones at match officials and prevented them from leaving the field, forcing intervention from security personnel, local task force members, and police to restore order. Similarly, Mole Nationals FC has been charged following their match against Tamale Super Wonders FC at the Jinapor II Sports Stadium in Buipe on April 25, 2026, where a team official and a player reportedly verbally assaulted match officials after the game, before supporters invaded the pitch, chased, mishandled, and physically attacked the referees.

Both clubs have been directed to submit written statements of defence to the NRFA Secretariat by close of work on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 (5:00 PM), with the Association warning that failure to comply will result in the Disciplinary Committee proceeding to adjudicate the cases in their absence. The incidents have once again raised serious concerns about hooliganism in Ghana’s domestic football, highlighting the urgent need for improved crowd control, enhanced security, and strict adherence to regulations to protect match officials and uphold the integrity of the game.

These unfortunate incidents must be strongly condemned. Acts of hooliganism not only endanger lives but also tarnish the image of football and hinder the development of the sport in the region.

While supporters are urged to exercise restraint and uphold the spirit of the game, match officials must also remain professional, fair, and neutral at all times to maintain confidence in officiating. However, under no circumstance should frustration lead to violence. Football must remain a game of passion, respect, and unity — not chaos.
