Munchly Restaurant Wins Restaurant Of The Year At 2026 Savannah Regional Tourism Awards

Munchly Restaurant, Damongo, has been adjudged Restaurant of the Year 2026 (Grade 3) at the Savannah Regional Tourism Awards organised by the Ghana Tourism Authority.

The awards ceremony, held under the theme “Celebrating Excellence Beyond Borders – The BlackStar Experience,” took place on Friday, 11th September 2026, at the Wuripe and Sons Royal Lodge in Bole.

Munchly Restaurant was honoured for its quick service and vibrant dining atmosphere, with the citation describing the eatery as a favourite destination for patrons seeking tasty, convenient meals. The Ghana Tourism Authority commended the establishment’s commitment to top-notch fast-food experiences, its role in setting high standards within the industry, and its consistency in exceeding customer expectations.

The citation, signed by Regional Director Alhaji Sulemana Amadu, recognised Munchly Restaurant, Damongo, for its exceptional service, innovative menu and consistent quality.

The award, was received by Mr Emeka Aloh on behalf of the restaurant’s Chief Executive Officer, Hon. Saeed Munchly Jibril.

The ceremony was attended by the Savannah Regional Minister, Hon. Salisu Be-Awuribe, as Guest of Honour, with Professor Raymond Adongo, Head of the Department of Ecotourism and Hospitality Management at the University for Development Studies (UDS), Tamale, chairing the event.

Also present were the Municipal/District Chief Executives of Bole, East Gonja and West Gonja, Hon. Abdulai Mahamud, Hon. Kassim Rabiu and Hon. Yakubu Yussif Castro respectively, the President of the Gonjaland Youth Association, Mr Alhassan Baba Darison, and his executives, Kanyepewura Solomon Salifu Tampuri Esq., and Bugewura M.M., who represented the Bolewura and the Bole Traditional Council.

The Ghana Tourism Authority’s Chief Executive Officer was represented by Mr Kofi Atta Kakra Kusi of the Authority’s Corporate Affairs Department in Accra, and the event brought together a wide cross-section of stakeholders in the region’s tourism and hospitality sector.

The awards were instituted to recognise institutions and individuals who distinguished themselves in the Savannah Region’s tourism industry in the course of the year.
