Miss Muhiba Iddrisu, popularly known as Queen Hiba and first runner-up in the 2016 edition of Ghana’s Most Beautiful pageant, has donated 500 exercise books to the Yagbon Wura Bii-Kunuto Educational Trust Fund to support education and promote learning among schoolchildren.
The donation was made on Friday, 9th October, 2026, at the Yagbon Wura’s palace in Damongo, in the Savannah Region.
Presenting the items through her Smile with Hiba Foundation, Miss Muhiba said spreading smiles and transforming lives has always been her passion.
“I’m here this morning in the palace to make a donation through my foundation, the Smile with Hiba Foundation. We are spreading our smiles, and we are transforming lives,” she said.
She explained that she chose to channel the donation through the Bii-Kunuto Educational Trust Fund because of its mission to promote education in the region. She added that her foundation hopes to gather more educational materials to be distributed to schools across the entire Savannah Region.
Miss Iddrisu Muhiba said the visit was a “two-in-one” engagement. Beyond the donation, she used the occasion to introduce herself and seek the blessings of the Yagbon Wura as a candidate contesting for the position of Savannah Regional Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“Before we even involve ourselves in any active campaign, it is only right to have the blessings of the old man so that it paves the way,” she said.
Receiving the items on behalf of the management of the Trust Fund, Mr. Mankir Ibn Malik, Public Relations Officer of the Gonjaland Youth Association, expressed profound gratitude to Miss Muhiba. He described her commitment to education as highly commendable and said the Trust Fund welcomes every form of support that will promote education and development.
Mr. Malik assured the donor that the books would be distributed to deserving pupils in the various schools in the Damongo township.
He noted that the donation comes at the start of a new academic year, when parents are required to purchase many learning materials, and said it would help ease the financial burden on them.
“We are grateful to our sister. I want to assure her that the books will be given to those who deserve it,” he said.
The gesture highlights the important role individuals and organisations can play in the development of education, particularly through the provision of essential learning materials.
