The Savannah Regional Women’s Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hajia Fatahiya Mohammed, has held a strategic meeting with all seven constituency women’s organizers in the Savannah Region, as part of efforts to unite and mobilize women ahead of the 2028 general elections.
The meeting, held at the Savannah Regional NPP office in Damongo on Tuesday, 1st September 2026, brought together women’s organizers from the Damongo, Daboya-Mankarigu, Bole-Bamboi, Yapei-Kusawgu, Salaga South and Salaga North constituencies.
Speaking in an interview with Spear FM, Hajia Fatahiya said the meeting was aimed at familiarization, promoting peace and unity, and strategizing on how to mobilize women across the region towards the 2028 polls.
She noted that historically, the outcome of presidential elections in Ghana has largely been determined by the votes of women, citing the elections of former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor, the late Atta Mills, John Dramani Mahama and Nana Akufo-Addo as evidence, since women form the majority of the country’s population.
Hajia Fatahiya called for unity among NPP women in the Savannah Region, stressing that this was essential to securing victory for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the 2028 elections. She disclosed that she contested against three other aspirants for the regional position and emerged winner, and said she now needs the support and cooperation of all constituency organizers to succeed. She noted that unity cannot be forced but must be built patiently over time.
She further credited the NPP administration under former President Akufo-Addo with initiatives that benefited women and youth, particularly the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy and the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) programme. According to her, Free SHS especially benefited women, since it is largely women who bear the responsibility of catering for their children’s education and upkeep, and the policy relieved them of that financial burden. She said this was among the reasons women should vote to return the NPP to power.
She also cited the creation of jobs for about 100,000 youth under the Akufo-Addo administration through NABCO as an achievement that benefited women and families. Hajia Fatahiya urged women in the region to support the NPP in 2028 for a better future for their children.

Some of the constituency women’s organizers who spoke to Spear FM expressed gratitude to the Regional Women’s Organizer, describing the meeting as a step in the right direction. They noted that the meeting was strategic and would help promote peace and unity among women organizers as they work together to secure victory for the NPP.
