The Savannah Regional Women’s Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hajia Fatahiya Mohammed, has called on women in the region to rally behind the NPP in the 2028 general elections, citing the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy and the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) programme as key achievements of the Akufo-Addo administration that directly benefited women and youth.
Speaking to Spear FM in an interview, Hajia Fatahiya said Free SHS had been particularly beneficial to women, who, she noted, bear the greater share of responsibility for their children’s education and upkeep. According to her, the policy eased that financial burden and stands as one of the strongest reasons women should support the NPP’s return to power.
She also pointed to NABCO, which she said created jobs for about 100,000 young people under the Akufo-Addo government, describing it as an achievement that benefited not just the youth but families and women across the country.
Hajia Fatahiya urged women in the Savannah Region to throw their support behind the NPP in 2028, saying doing so would secure a better future for their children.
She further noted that women’s votes have historically shaped the outcomes of Ghana’s presidential elections, pointing to the elections of former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor, the late John Evans Atta Mills, John Dramani Mahama, and Nana Akufo-Addo as evidence of this trend, since women make up the majority of the country’s population.
The Regional Women’s Organizer made these remarks after meeting with all constituency women organizers in the Savannah Region. The meeting was held at the NPP’s regional office in Damongo on Tuesday, 1st September 2026.
