Savannah Region: Government of Ghana Opens Bids for Eight Ultra-Modern Market Construction Projects

The Savannah Regional Coordinating Council has announced a national competitive tender for the construction of ultra-modern 24-hour economy markets across seven municipal and district assemblies in the region, as part of the government’s ambitious 24-hour Economy and Accelerated Development Programme.

The initiative follows the official launch of the programme by the President on July 1, 2025, which aims to transform Ghana’s economy by supporting businesses operating around the clock. The policy is designed to create sustainable, well-paying jobs while increasing employment opportunities, productivity, and public service access.

Eight construction projects have been opened for bidding, targeting locations including West Gonja, East Gonja, Bole, Sawla-Tuna-Kalba, and North Gonja District Assemblies. Each project carries a completion period of 36 months, with tenderers required to provide a 2% tender security of the contract amount.

The tender process, governed by the Public Procurement Act 663 (2003), requires eligible contractors to submit sealed bids along with mandatory documentation including business registration, tax clearance certificates, and social security compliance documents.

This infrastructure investment represents the government’s strategic approach to implementing the 24-hour economy policy, which aims to boost trading activities and support round-the-clock operations in coordination with the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.

The programme is described as a comprehensive, multi-sectoral agenda focused on import substitution, export promotion, and industrialization to transform the Ghanaian economy and improve access to essential services for citizens.
