MTN Ghana has swept three prestigious Ookla Speedtest Awards at Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona, earning recognition as the Fastest Mobile Network in Ghana, Best Fixed Network in Ghana, and Best Fixed Network in Western Africa.
The awards, announced on April 19, 2026, are based on independent data drawn from millions of real consumer speed tests conducted through Ookla’s Speedtest platform widely regarded as the global benchmark for real-world internet performance.
MTN Ghana recorded a Speedtest Connectivity Score of 67.16, outperforming multiple operators across the sub-region, including those in Mauritania, Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, and Nigeria.
Speaking on the recognition, MTN Ghana Chief Executive Officer Stephen Blewett said the awards reflect the company’s sustained investment in network infrastructure to deliver faster and more reliable connectivity.
“At MTN Ghana, we believe that a strong, dependable network is fundamental to expanding digital access, driving economic growth and supporting Africa’s progress,” he said, adding that the company is ramping up network site deployments to improve quality of service.
Chief Technology Officer Reuben Opata also congratulated the MTN team, reaffirming the company’s commitment to building a network that delivers consistent, high-quality experiences for customers across the country.

The Ookla Speedtest Awards evaluate operators on speed, coverage, consistency, and overall user experience, assessed entirely through real customer testing, making them among the most credible performance honours in the telecoms industry.
The accolades follow deliberate network investment and modernisation by MTN Ghana, including capacity upgrades across radio and transport infrastructure. The investment drive is set to accelerate further, with MTN Group CEO Ralph Mupita announcing plans to invest US$1.1 billion in Ghana over the next three years, targeting stronger infrastructure and improved service delivery.
