Chalewura on Behalf of Damongowura Orders Immediate Clearance of Pavements, 24-hour Economy Market Construction Zones in Damongo

The Chalewura Kanamaluwe Techi Dari, on behalf of Damongowura Seidu Kelly Boresa I has directed an immediate clearance of all pavements and unauthorised structures around the Damongo 24-hour Economy Daily Market construction site and the Lorry Park/Station, following a meeting with the Regional Police Commander.

The discussions centred on security operations targeting unauthorised trading activities that have sprung up around the market construction site and the lorry station.

According to the statement, issued on behalf of Damongowura Kelly Seidu Braimah Boresah I, a major enforcement exercise will begin on Monday 29th June, 2026 and continue throughout the week, with the aim of clearing all unauthorised structures and trading activities from the affected areas.

Residents have been urged to inform family members and traders operating on the pavements to relocate to the designated Saturday Market, to avoid any inconvenience or losses once the exercise begins.

The statement noted that the Military had also paid a courtesy call on Damongowura, who stressed the urgent need to clear all pavements and surrounding areas around the construction site. The Military operations are expected to commence on Saturday 27th June 2026, with the Police exercise following on Monday 29th June.

The statement further called on the public to comply fully with the directives, describing the exercise as being in the interest of order, safety, and the successful execution of the ongoing market project. It urged residents to cooperate with security agencies and traditional authorities to ensure the exercise is carried out peacefully and successfully.
