Ave Hope Kids Foundation-Ghana on Thursday 23rd July 2026 climaxed its two-month advocacy campaign against drug abuse with a colourful event at the Damongo Community Center, bringing together students from several Junior High and Senior High Schools across the Savannah Region.
The campaign was aimed at educating young people on the dangers of illegal drug use, as well as the misuse of prescription and over-the-counter medications for purposes other than their intended use.
Speaking at the climax event, the Executive Director of Ave Hope Kids Foundation-Ghana, Madam Joana Wuriya Ewuntomah, said drug abuse among the youth was doing more harm than good to society. She noted that the program was specifically organized to tackle the growing concern of drug misuse among young people in the region.
According to her, the Foundation’s mission goes beyond a single campaign. It is about empowering young people to make informed choices and building a generation committed to a drug-free future.
She said the initiative aligns with the Foundation’s broader vision of ensuring that every child feels safe, protected, and supported to develop a creative and productive mindset.
The event brought together students, school authorities, and stakeholders from within the Savannah Region, all united under the theme: “Empowering Young Minds: Building a Safe and Creative Future for Every Child.”
The Foundation has expressed optimism that the campaign will spark lasting behavioural change among the youth and encourage continuous dialogue on substance abuse prevention in schools across the region.
