A delegation led by Mr. Musah Abdul Majeed has donated food items, toiletries, cash, and other relief supplies to the Redemption Children’s Home in Damongo as part of activities marking the 67th birthday of the King and Overlord of the Gonja Kingdom, Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I, celebrated on 16th May 2026.
The gesture, according to the delegation, was intended to support vulnerable children and reflect the King’s commitment to humanitarian service and community development.
Delivering the items on behalf of the Yagbonwura, Mr. Abdul Majeed said the donation was a symbolic way of extending the King’s birthday celebration to the less privileged in society, particularly orphans.
“It is not about anything grand, but to commemorate the birthday of the King and extend a hand of support to those who need it most. The King believes that true leadership is shown in compassion, especially towards orphans and vulnerable children,” he said.

He further stressed that no group in society better represents vulnerability than orphans, noting the King’s continued call for collective support.
“No one can be described as underprivileged more than the orphan. That is why His Majesty continues to call on all of us to support them and give them hope for the future,” he added.
Mr. Abdul Majeed also conveyed the King’s appreciation to the people of Ghana and the Gonja Kingdom for their continuous support over the years, stating that His Majesty remains grateful and committed to leading with humility and dedication.
He added that collective responsibility remains key in addressing the needs of the vulnerable, urging society to support the underprivileged.
Addressing the children at the home, he encouraged them to focus on their education and personal development, describing them as future leaders of the nation.
The donation was warmly received by the management and children of the home, who expressed appreciation for the timely intervention.
The Administrator of the Redemption Children’s Home, Pastor Abraham Lermu expressed deep appreciation to the King for the gesture.
“We are very, very grateful. We cannot thank you enough for remembering us as underprivileged and choosing to celebrate your birthday with us. We pray that God will bless the King, lift him higher, and grant him long life to continue serving this land,” he said.

He noted that the visit came as a pleasant surprise, adding that the children were encouraged by the support.
Pastor Abraham explained that the home caters for children from diverse and often difficult backgrounds, many of whom have made significant academic progress, with about 15 currently in tertiary institutions through various forms of support.
He appealed for continued assistance, stressing that the children belong to society and require collective effort to thrive.
