Savannah Region: Some Concerned NDC Grassroots Urge Regional Organizer Sorku Kasim Yahuza to Retain His Position

Some Concerned Grassroot members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Savannah Region have appealed to the Savannah Regional Organizer, Sorku Kasim Yahuza, popularly known as “Field Marshall,” to abandon any plans to contest for the position of Savannah Regional Secretary and instead remain in his current role.

In an open letter addressed to the Regional Organizer, the concerned grassroots members acknowledged Yahuza’s competence and qualifications for the secretarial position but argued that his continued presence as Regional Organizer is critical to the party’s stability and future electoral success.

The members praised Yahuza’s leadership, crediting his strategic planning, grassroots mobilization, and mature decision-making for the party’s impressive performance in the Savannah Region during the last elections, where the NDC secured victory in six out of the seven constituencies.

“Your leadership has been nothing short of exceptional,” the letter read in part. The members noted that even while in opposition, Yahuza ran the party’s operational machinery with the discipline and efficiency of a ruling party.

The letter further described the role of Regional Organizer as the backbone of any political party, warning that the position should not be handed over to inexperienced hands, particularly at a time when the party must consolidate its electoral gains in the region.

The grassroots members also praised Yahuza’s collaborative efforts with fellow regional executives and members of parliament, which they said had significantly strengthened the party’s structures across the region.

Appealing passionately to their leader, the members urged him to stay the course and prepare the party for the 2028 elections.

“The grassroots are calling on you, loudly and clearly, to stay in your role as Regional Organizer. Your leadership is needed now more than ever,” the letter stated.

The open letter was signed by Concerned Grassroots Members of the NDC in the Savannah Region.
