The spirit of sportsmanship, determination, and excellence was on full display as Bagabaga College of Education (BACE), located in the Sagnerigu District of the Northern Region, hosted Savannah College of Education (SAVCE) for a series of friendly sporting encounters on 19 and 20 June 2026.
Widely regarded as the underdogs before the competition, Savannah College of Education, located in the North Gonja District of the Savannah Region, exceeded expectations with an outstanding performance across all sporting disciplines. The college emerged victorious in every event contested during the two-day sporting festival, demonstrating exceptional talent, teamwork, and resilience.
In men’s football, SAVCE recorded a convincing 2–0 victory over BACE. The women’s football team also triumphed with a hard-fought 1–0 win. Savannah College continued its dominance in volleyball, with the women’s team securing a comprehensive 3–0 victory. The men’s volleyball team completed the clean sweep by winning Match One 2–1 and Match Two 3–0.
The friendly games attracted enthusiastic support from students, staff, management, and members of the surrounding communities of both institutions, creating an atmosphere of unity, camaraderie, and healthy competition.
Beyond its sporting success, Savannah College of Education has continued to make remarkable strides in institutional development. The college was established through the collective efforts and commitment of stakeholders across the Savannah Region. The vision to establish the institution was spearheaded by its Principal, Dr. Musah Ibrahim M. Ekpampo, in 2021.
That same year, the process to secure accreditation and integrate the institution into Ghana’s public college education system commenced. Although the journey began in 2021, the accreditation process was successfully completed in 2025 after years of dedication, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment from numerous stakeholders. Dr. Ekpampo’s leadership was instrumental in transforming the vision into reality.
The college’s exceptional performance during these friendly games is another reflection of its steady progress, determination, and rising stature. It highlights not only success on the field of play but also the resilience, vision, and commitment that continue to shape the institution’s remarkable journey.
