The Savannah Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the alleged lynching of a young man at Daboya in the North Gonja District.
The suspects, Adjei Abdulai, 25, a carpenter, and Issah Mahama, 22, a student, were arrested following investigations into the incident, which was captured in a video that circulated widely on social media.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim, identified as Yibonwura, was allegedly attacked and severely assaulted after being accused of stealing sheanuts. He later died from the injuries sustained during the assault.
The two suspects are currently in police custody assisting investigations, while a manhunt is underway for a third suspect who remains at large. Police say investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and to ensure all persons connected to the crime are brought to justice.
The press release, dated August 26, 2026, was signed by DCOP David K. Amoako, Regional Police Commander for the Savannah Region.
