Kalamonia Declares Intent to Retain Savannah Regional NPP Chairmanship

Alhaji Iddrisu Sulemana, popularly known as Professor Kalamonia, has officially declared his intention to seek re-election as Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Savannah Region.

In a statement issued from his office in Damongo and dated July 14, 2026, Prof. Kalamonia asked delegates and party faithful across the region to renew his mandate, saying he intends to build on the foundation laid during his current tenure.

He anchored his re-election bid on what he described as four pillars: Unity of Purpose, Efficient Service, Empowerment, and Victory — under the campaign slogan “One NPP, Total Victory in 2028.”

On unity, the Regional Chairman pledged to continue running an all-inclusive executive body open to the old, young, women, youth and all interest groups within the party. On service, he described leadership as service rather than status, pledging round-the-clock accessibility to party members. On empowerment, he promised continued investment in Polling Station Executives, Electoral Area Executives, Constituency Executives, Party Communicators, and the Women, Youth and Nasara wings through capacity building, logistics and welfare support.

Turning to the 2028 general elections, Prof. Kalamonia acknowledged that the NPP lost two of the three parliamentary seats it won in the region in 2020, but pledged a “data-driven campaign” to retain the Damongo seat, recover lost seats, win new ones, and deliver a strong regional showing for the party’s presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia.

He closed his declaration with an appeal to delegates under the theme “Retain What Works,” urging them to consider experience, track record and loyalty ahead of the regional chairmanship contest.
