The King and Overlord of the Gonja Kingdom, Yagbonwura Bii-kunuto Jewu Soale, has directed the immediate removal of all signboards planted close to the Jakpa Palace fence wall in Damongo.
The Yagbonwura also ordered that all posters be it political, business, or otherwise, pasted on the palace fence wall be taken down immediately by those responsible for placing them.
In addition, the Overlord noted that a secondhand clothes seller who operates by the palace fence wall must relocate from the area.
According to the directive, anyone who fails to remove their signboard, poster, sticker, or trading activity from the palace wall by Wednesday, 15th July 2026, will have it forcibly removed by the Yagbonwura’s Nbonwurana (Palace Guards).
The Yagbonwura further warned that no one should henceforth mount a signboard or paste a flyer or poster on the Jakpa Palace fence wall. He also cautioned against the placement of shops or any temporary structures for business purposes around the palace wall.
Explaining the reason behind the directive, the Yagbonwura said it is aimed at protecting the dignity and respect of the Jakpa Palace, stressing that the front view of the palace should remain clean, neat, and unobstructed by signboards, posters, or business structures.
