A gang of armed robbers threw the Fufulso Junction community into a state of panic and fear on Sunday night after launching a brazen attack that left a mobile money vendor and several community members with gunshot injuries.
According to information reaching Spear FM, the armed robbers specifically targeted a mobile money vendor and the community’s main station, firing sporadically and sustaining their attack for close to twenty minutes before fleeing the scene with the vendor’s cash.
The indiscriminate gunshots sent shockwaves through the entire community, with residents including women and children running helter-skelter in search of cover as the robbers continued their assault. Eyewitness accounts describe scenes of chaos and confusion as families scrambled to safety.
The mobile money vendor, who bore the brunt of the attack, sustained severe injuries. A number of men and women at the station were also wounded in the crossfire. The injured victims were subsequently rushed to the Buipe Government Hospital for medical attention.
