Savannah Regional Chairman of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alhaji Imoro SEIDU has formally announced his intention to seek re-election for another term.
The maverick chairman announced his decision at a presser held at the forecourt of his private residence in Sawla on Friday, September 18, 2026.
In his declaration, he made a strong case for continuity arguing that the fortunes of the party has seen a wanton surge under his watch.
He explained that the gains attained over the few years during his reign were not accidental, but the result of conscious grassroots mobilization and leadership.
He therefore rallied the rank and file of the party in the region to champion his re-election bid and counseled that abandoning such a tested leadership would amount to sheer gambling.
“I therefore seek the support of the kingmakers of our dignified party for another term to consolidate the gains accomplished under my tenure”, he rallied.
According to him, the stakeholders of the party he consulted have all given him the greenlight to seek another term to advance the fortunes of the party in the region.
“Even the president, his excellency John Dramani Mahama has thrown his support behind me including the six parliamentarians on the ticket of our great party”, he disclosed.
Mobbed by some of his supporters, he said he will file his nomination when nominations for the regional executives elections officially opens.
He posited that what the party needs for the next phase is experience, firm and deliberate strategy stressing that he embodies those qualities as the incumbent.
The declaration comes on the heels of a successful electoral showing that saw the NDC win 6 out of 7 parliamentary seats in the Savannah Region in the 2024 elections a feat initially deemed impossible.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has scheduled November 14 and 15 later this year to elect a new set of regional executives across the country.
