A colourful send-off ceremony was held on Thursday, 3rd September 2026, at the Mole Tourism Centre Conference Hall, as Chief Yakubu Amankwa officially bade farewell to the Mole National Park, the Wildlife Division and the Forestry Commission after 38 years of distinguished service.
Chief Yakubu joined the Mole National Park in 1989 as a labourer. Through perseverance, humility and commitment, he rose steadily through the ranks to retire as Senior Human Resource Manager, and served as a member of the Park’s senior management staff. He is also a sub chief of the Wasipe Traditional Area in the North Gonja District of the Savannah Region.

Delivering the keynote address, the Manager of Mole National Park, Chief Ali Mahama, expressed his excitement and joy at witnessing the occasion, describing Chief Yakubu as an experienced, dedicated and committed officer. Quoting 2nd Timothy 4:7 “I have fought a good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” he noted that Chief Yakubu had lived out this scripture in his years with the Wildlife Division, the Forestry Commission and Mole National Park.
Chief Ali further stated that Mr Yakubu’s contributions would forever be remembered, particularly his role in defending the dignity of every ranger and protecting the integrity of the Park. He concluded by urging all staff to emulate Chief Yakubu’s example of integrity, faith and core values.

Responding in a message of appreciation, Chief Yakubu Amankwa thanked all present for honouring his invitation. He said he never regretted working with Mole National Park, the Wildlife Division and the Forestry Commission, noting that he had benefited greatly from the service. He encouraged young and upcoming staff to work hard so that they too may be honoured in the same manner in future. He expressed sincere gratitude to the Wildlife Division and Mole National Park for organising the wonderful celebration in his honour.

The occasion was chaired by Mr Zakaria Dramani, also known as Zion. It was attended by chiefs and queen mothers, retirees of the Mole Park, A Rocha Ghana, family and friends, staff of Mole National Park, the Manager of Kumasi Zoo Dr Meyir Ziekah, the Regional Manager of the Forestry Commission, and other dignitaries.
