Seven leaders of the Mandari community demonstration in the Bole-Bamboi Constituency have been dragged to court following their role in a demonstration staged against duty beares in Bole-Bamboi.
The accused persons Aworo Yeboah Mango, Gilimwini Sella David, Bala Dapanyel, Abu Aziz, Mohammed Hadi, Braimah Jima, and John Tesenia are facing two counts of charges before the District Magistrate Court in Bole, Savannah Region, under Case Docket Reference Number R.O. No. 132/2026.
On Count One, the seven are charged with Deceiving a Public Officer, contrary to Section 251 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29). Prosecutors allege that on the 4th of June 2026, the accused persons, with intent to evade the requirement of law, made verbal statements to the Bole Police Command to call off the planned demonstration scheduled for 8th June 2026. A statements they did not have good reason to believe were true.
On Count Two, they face a charge of Holding a Special Event without notifying the police, contrary to Section 1 of the Public Order Act, 1994 (Act 491). Prosecutors allege that despite their assurances to police, the accused went ahead and commenced the demonstration at Mandari community on 8th June 2026 without the required police notification.
A summons issued by the Bole District Magistrate Court on 19th June 2026 commands all seven accused persons to appear before the court on 16th July 2026, and on every adjournment until the case is disposed of.
The development comes after the Mandari community staged a massive demonstration clothed in red, demanding government attention to healthcare, education, employment, roads, electrification, and potable water citing decades of neglect despite their consistent support for the NDC.
