The Gonjaland Youth Association has convened a stakeholder engagement in Damongo to deliberate on the demarcation of Gonjaland’s territorial boundaries and chart a clear roadmap for the exercise.
The engagement, which took place on Tuesday, 2nd June, 2026, brought together key stakeholders to address a long-standing issue that has over the years triggered recurring land boundary conflicts between the Gonja people and several neighbouring ethnic groups.
Gonjaland shares boundaries with a number of communities and traditional areas, including Dagbon, Mamprusi, Upper West, and the Bono area boundaries that have remained a flashpoint for tensions due to the absence of clearly defined demarcations.
Participants at the engagement expressed the hope that establishing well-defined boundaries would serve as a lasting solution to the conflicts and foster peaceful coexistence between the Gonja people and their neighbours.
The Gonjaland Youth Association, for its part, has signalled its commitment to driving the demarcation process, describing it as a critical step toward securing the land rights of the Gonja people and ensuring sustainable peace across the region.
