Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has named a 28-man squad for Ghana’s preparations ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the international friendly against Wales in Cardiff.
The squad consists of five goalkeepers, nine defenders, seven midfielders, and seven forwards. The team opened camp on Monday, May 25, 2026, and trained at Dragon Park in Cardiff as preparations intensify for the friendly scheduled for June 2.
A major highlight of the squad is the return of Baba Abdul Rahman, who earns his first call-up since September 2023 after an impressive season with PAOK. The experienced left-back has made 35 appearances, scoring three goals and providing three assists this season.
Also making a welcome return is Ernest Nuamah, who has recovered fully from a long-term ACL injury that kept him out for more than a year. Fellow returnees include Abdul Mumin, Augustine Boakye, and Alidu Seidu.
One of the notable inclusions is 20-year-old Ajax youngster Paul Reverson, who has been invited for further assessment as part of the national team’s long-term plans.
The final 26 nan squad will be announced in June 1 2026.
Ghana will use the Wales friendly as part of its final preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the Black Stars have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia. Ghana will open its campaign against Panama in Toronto before facing England in Boston and Croatia in Philadelphia.
